The Winslanirian is an instrument designed and built by Winsow Porter and myself. The original idea was to build a stringed addition to a drum set that could be hit to make the open-tuned strings resonate. This evolved into its current table-top form, which is based on prepared guitars, particularly Yuri Landman‘s Moonlander.¬†

I’ve been working on a TV cube prototype, which I could potentially use for my Video Sculpture and Materials midterms. I found a cheap portable DVD player at B&H which I dismantled to separate the LCD screen from the rest. I then swapped the cable connecting the DVD player to the screen for a longer one, and hooked it up to my foam-core cube from Materials.
Here is my first foam-core cube. It’s built out of a single piece of foam-core folded into the cube shape. This is actually what I based myself on for the Grade My Kiss display box, but it didn’t go very well the second time over.
Also, here is my first blue foam prototype. It’s a top, but it’s a little off-center so it doesn’t spin for very long.
